Official file

Levelz mod download

The LevelZ mod download below is the latest official release: version 2.0.11 for Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 on Fabric, published by Globox_Z on October 3, 2026. The button opens the file directly from CurseForge.

Older official builds (1.20.1, 1.20, 1.19.2, 1.19 and earlier) are in the CurseForge file archive and on Modrinth. They no longer receive updates.

Before you install: back up your world, and download Fabric API, Cloth Config API and LibZ for 1.21.1 too.

Minecraft LevelZ mod guide

New to LevelZ? Here is the whole loop in one place.

  1. Install Fabric Loader 1.21.1, then put Fabric API, Cloth Config API, LibZ and the LevelZ jar in your mods folder. (Step-by-step install guide.)
  2. Play normally. Mining, fighting, farming and other activities give experience that raises your overall level.
  3. Press K to open the skill screen and spend your skill points.
  4. Check locked items. If you can't use a tool, block or recipe, its tooltip and the skill screen show which skill level it needs.
  5. Plan a build. Points are limited, so pick skills that match your role — especially on multiplayer servers.

Want different rules? Server owners can rewrite skills and unlocks with a LevelZ datapack and manage players with LevelZ commands.

Not available

LevelZ mod Forge

There is no Forge version of the LevelZ mod. LevelZ is developed for Fabric only, and its author says there are no plans to develop a Forge version. Any site offering a "LevelZ Forge download" is not offering an official file.

What to use instead

  • Best option: play LevelZ on Fabric 1.21.1 — install it with the free Fabric installer.
  • Must stay on Forge? Use a different skill-progression mod that is published for Forge, and check its page for your exact Minecraft version.
  • Compatibility layers that load Fabric mods on other loaders are unofficial and not supported by LevelZ — expect problems.
Not available

Levelz mod NeoForge

There is no official NeoForge build of LevelZ either. The CurseForge and Modrinth pages list Fabric as the only loader for every LevelZ release, including 2.0.11 for 1.21.1.

What to use instead

  • Switch your instance to Fabric 1.21.1 to use the real LevelZ mod.
  • Need NeoForge? Choose a skill mod that ships NeoForge files for 1.21.1 — for example, Tyz's Skills lists NeoForge support. Features and config differ from LevelZ.
Not available

LevelZ Mod Minecraft Bedrock

The LevelZ mod does not exist for Minecraft Bedrock Edition — not for Windows Bedrock, consoles or mobile. LevelZ is a Java Edition mod; Bedrock uses a completely different add-on system, so Java mods cannot be installed there.

What to use instead

  • To play LevelZ: use Minecraft Java Edition on Windows, macOS or Linux with Fabric 1.21.1.
  • Staying on Bedrock? Look for a Bedrock add-on built for leveling or RPG skills. It will be a different project, not LevelZ.
  • Be careful with "LevelZ Bedrock" .mcaddon files — none are made by LevelZ's author.
Supported

LevelZ Datapack

Most LevelZ defaults can be changed with a datapack, and since version 2.0.0 you can create or overwrite skills entirely. Put JSON files in your datapack under data/levelz/:

  • skill/ — define skills: their id (position in the GUI), key, max level, attributes and level bonuses.
  • restriction/ — lock things behind skill levels: blocks, crafting, entities, items, mining and enchantments.

Use unique file names so you don't clash with the built-in ones. Player-attribute settings live in config/levelz.json5. LevelZ also adds two advancement triggers, levelz:level and levelz:skill.

my_levelz_pack/ ├─ pack.mcmeta └─ data/ └─ levelz/ ├─ skill/ │ └─ my_skills.json └─ restriction/ └─ iron_tier.json
{
  "iron_tier": {
    "replace": false,
    "skills": { "mining": 5 },
    "items": [ "minecraft:iron_pickaxe" ],
    "crafting": [ "minecraft:iron_pickaxe" ],
    "mining": [ "minecraft:diamond_ore" ]
  }
}

Example restriction: Mining 5 is needed to use or craft an iron pickaxe and to mine diamond ore. Skill keys must match skills that exist in your setup.

Operators

LevelZ mod commands

LevelZ adds one command, /level, for operators (cheats or op permission required). Replace player with a name and skill with a skill key such as health or mining.

SyntaxExampleDoes
/level <player> add <skill> <amount>
/level Steve add mining 2
Raises a skill by the amount.
/level <player> remove <skill> <amount>
/level Steve remove mining 1
Lowers a skill by the amount.
/level <player> set <skill> <amount>
/level Steve set health 10
Sets a skill to an exact level.
/level <player> get <skill>
/level Steve get health
Prints the player's current level in that skill.

Tip: turn on developer mode in the LevelZ config, then hover an item in the creative menu and press F8 to add its id to idlist.json — handy when writing datapacks.

Fixes

Troubleshooting

Game crashes on launch

Usually a missing dependency. Install Fabric API, Cloth Config API and LibZ — all for Minecraft 1.21.1 — next to the LevelZ jar.

LevelZ doesn't appear in game

You launched the wrong profile. Start the Fabric 1.21.1 profile, not vanilla, Forge or NeoForge.

Pressing K does nothing

Another mod may use K. Open Options > Controls, find the LevelZ key binding and set a free key.

Can't join a server

LevelZ must be installed on both the server and the client, with the same version on each.

Datapack changes are ignored

Check the path: data/levelz/skill/ or data/levelz/restriction/. Give files unique names, then run /reload or restart the world.

Item still locked after levelling

A restriction can require several skills at once. Check every skill listed in that restriction, or ask the server owner.

The download isn't a .jar

You are not on the official file. The real file is levelz-2.0.11+1.21.1.jar from CurseForge project 517130.
