Character progression through skill development.
LevelZ is a free, open-source Minecraft mod by Globox_Z that adds player skills you level up to unlock gear, items and blocks. It is built for the Fabric mod loader on Minecraft Java Edition.
LevelZ connects equipment access to skill requirements. Players gain experience and allocate skill points to develop their characters, improve attributes, and meet the requirements for additional equipment.
Skills and restrictions are configurable. Server owners and modpack makers can rewrite skills and restrictions through a LevelZ datapack, adjust attribute settings in config/levelz.json5, and manage players with the /level command.
It runs on both client and server, so it works in single-player and on multiplayer servers. The source code is on GitHub under the GPL licence, and the official LevelZ mod wiki is hosted by the author.
Skill development, equipment requirements, and configurable attributes add structured progression to Minecraft survival.
Press K to open the LevelZ skill screen, review character levels and allocate available skill points.
Items, blocks, crafting recipes, mining, entities and enchantments can each require a skill level before you can use them.
Skills raise real player attributes such as max health, attack damage, armor, movement speed or mining efficiency.
Milestone bonuses like double ore drops, twin breeding, trade discounts, evading damage or a chance to survive a fatal hit.
Define or modify skills and restrictions using JSON datapacks.
Runs on client and server. Operators use /level to add, remove, set or read any player's skill levels.
Experience, skill points, and equipment requirements form the core progression system.
Gameplay experience contributes to character advancement and skill development.
Character advancement provides skill points, with progression rates controlled by the active configuration.
Distribute available points across skills that support combat, resource gathering, farming, or other activities.
Higher skill levels meet equipment requirements and provide configured attribute improvements and bonuses.
Equipment requirements connect access to advanced tools and armor with character skill levels.
Players can prioritise different skills to support complementary roles in cooperative survival.
Modpack creators can configure item requirements to connect equipment access with character development.
Custom restrictions allow map creators to associate supported interactions and equipment with skill requirements.
Server administrators can adjust skills and restrictions to support their preferred progression rules.
Progressive skill development provides ongoing character objectives alongside building, exploration, and resource collection.

No. LevelZ is developed for Fabric only, and the author states there are no plans to make a Forge version. To play it, install Fabric Loader for your Minecraft installation. If your modpack must stay on Forge, you will need a different skill mod that is built for Forge.
There is no official NeoForge build of LevelZ. The official files on CurseForge and Modrinth are Fabric-only. Use a matching Fabric profile, or choose a skill-progression mod that is published for NeoForge.
No. LevelZ is a Java Edition mod and cannot run on Bedrock Edition (consoles, mobile, Windows Bedrock). Java mods and Bedrock add-ons are different formats, so you need Minecraft Java Edition with Fabric to use it.
This website provides LevelZ information for Minecraft players, server administrators, and modpack creators.
No. This is an independent information website. LevelZ development and official releases are managed by the mod creator and project maintainers.
Check the official LevelZ file listing for supported Minecraft releases. Select a file that matches your game and Fabric setup, then use compatible dependencies.
LevelZ needs Fabric Loader plus three required mods: Fabric API, Cloth Config API and LibZ. Download each one for the same Minecraft installation and put all the .jar files in your mods folder.
The download buttons on this website open the LevelZ GitHub source archive for the 1.21 branch. This ZIP contains source code; a compiled mod JAR is required to play.
Place matching mod and dependency .jar files in the mods folder of the Minecraft instance you launch.
Back up your world first and test the setup in a copy. Adding progression rules can change when you can use equipment and blocks.
Check the selected game version, loader, required dependencies, and duplicate mod files. Review the error message to identify the component involved.
Compare your client setup with the server requirements. Ask the administrator which versions and configuration rules the server uses.
Press K. That is the default key for the LevelZ skill screen, and you can rebind it in Options > Controls if another mod already uses K.

Check the required skill and your current level. Server configurations or datapacks may use different requirements from the examples on this site.
